The Amigo Garden tractors were made in Dowagiac, Michigan by DEMCO. My uncle was the designer and builder of the tractors. You mention a Lauson engine. Wisconsin engines were also used. The other engine I am not sure of, it was either Briggs&Stratton or Kohler. The tractor used a planetary transmission that was "shifted on the go." I do not have an Amigo but met a person last year that has two. He invited me to operate it in a parade which I did. My first time ever on an Amigo and my first time in a parade at The Thumb Octagon Barn about a 1 1/2 miles NE of Gagetown, Michigan. Fall Family Days is held there each year the first weekend after Labor Day. My new friend will be bring his Amigos there again this year September 10 and 11, 2005. I will be visiting my uncle soon and plan to get answers to many questions about Amigos.
