It seems the 50 was the tractor Deere started the new hires out on when it comes to decals. I looked at some old factory pictures and they are all over the place. It seems the bottom of the 5 is about level with the top of the generator and angled up. I use to know for sure the angle, but can't remember if it's 23 or 27 degree. Centered between the front and back of the grill side is most common. There are pictures of the decal on early, non power steering models, that are at the same height and others 1 1/2 inches higher and moved forward to within about 1 inch of the grill screens. To me the centered decal is the way I remember them as a kid, but then they may have been late models. I don't think they changed them, just started better quility control. Just looks like they put them belly button high and it didn't matter if you were 5'3" or 6'3". I THINK I know where the decal goes for the air filter but I would not want to tell you wrong as you seem to be trying to do a good, correct job and I would feel bad if I were wrong. May I suggest you go to the main discussion board and post for "F-I-T" about the angle of the decal. Frank knows and did a real nice job on his 70. He would know about the air filter also. CLW

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
