Hi Joe, Talking about rain and coastal, I just downloaded a report from TAMU Ag Extention, Soil and Crop Sciences Division, entitled "Managing for High Quality Hay". Real eye opener. Has a lot of facts that a hayman needs to know. One thing I knew, but didn't know the extent of the knowledge, was the ability of a plant to produce on decreasing amounts of water as a function of how much N is in the soil. I was amazed at how fast the water needed dropped as the N was increased.....but the bad part was I didn't know HOW MUCH N it took.......lots to really operate on minimum water. So I guess those boys out West on the Caprock either irrigated their crops or really packed the fert on them. The Pub # is SCS-1997-02 if you are interested. Later, Mark
