Bill, I have a 93 F350 with the 7.3, I have never had any problems so far with starting or with the glo plugs. The plugs have been changed a few times, because I thought they needed to be changed, the controler came on the truck. I also keep good hot batteries and an up to snuff starter on it. Old weak batteries and a weak starter will cause problems that don't end after their replacement. And you are right, always get the good stuff..
