I probably got 15 or so of those keys in my dresser draw.
It does say they are for HEAVY EQUIPMENT and every make only has one key for several years. In fact the new Cat key fits the machine plus all the pad locks on the side doors. One of the best pad locks made in my mind. Even has a rubber cover to keep water out.

Older large heavy equipment such as cranes do not even have a key. One toggle switch turns it on and a push button to start.

They do this because keys get loss on job sites if you leave them in the machine. Every operator has a key he keeps with him to take from one machine to the next.
