Pappy, distilled water is collected and cooled steam from heated water.
The water that comes from the dehumidifier is moisture collected from the air around the dehumidifier or the coils of your air conditioner.
There is very little difference in the water its self but as one post stated the dehumidifier water may have a high bacteria count. It won't survive in a battery anyway....
