Frankie, What you are hearing is piston slap due to the shortened pistons skirts in those engines. GM is gonna tell you it is normal; it isn't, but that is what they'll say to keep from having to deal with it. When the engine is being built, there are both high and low tolerances for the cylinder bore and also the same for the piston. If by chance an engine should happen to get by on the high side bore-tolerance and a low side piston-diameter, it will still pass spec, but when it's cold it is gonna talk for the first minute or so after starting cold until that piston sweals from heat. This is how the GM schools explained it to me anyways. Allan
