Hi,
My understanding from my car mechanic class days is that higher octane DOESN'T burn "faster" that in fact it burns "slower" thereby giving you a longer burntime. The longer burntime gives a commensurate longer push on the piston, hence "more" power. I am not quite exacly sure if someone has put it that way, but that is how I have understood it to be.
