In 1991 on a provincial grade 12 writing examination the students had the task of writing an essay or poem on an environmental issue. One wag scrawled the following poem on a piece of foolscap: Bessie the cow makes too much methane and wrecks the ozone layer. BARBECUE BESSIE! After a great deal of discussion we awarded it the top mark.
