Has anyone ever used boiled linseed oil to finish a tractor in its original condition? I would like to do a complete mechanical rebuild and clean, wirebrush and wipe down the complete tractor with linseed oil. I have tried a few parts, it really brings out the color on the original paint and protects and stops rust. It dries and gives a satin gloss type finish. If I decide to paint the tractor in the future, how much trouble to paint over the linseed oil? From what little I know, linseed oil used to be a base component of oil based paints. I think the original look would be nice, but am I missing something about using linseed oil? Looking for others' experiences. Thanks! James
