Mike,waste has a lot to do with it which causes more demand. Everybody wants to look important driving one of those big shinny vehicles. The big 3 saw they could make a nice profit with no restrictions. We can also put some of the blame on the air travel industry,can you imagine how much fuel it takes for one of those air-buses or 747's,and the majority of air travel is people wanting to see what's on the other side . And also we got some leaders that got into a pi$$ing contest,this is causing some of the other problems I'm sure. We can also blame modern technology like cell phones and pc's. It looks like a race between between asian countries and the US to see who can come up with the latest gadget to hit the market so somebody can make some money,(8 track tape player, cassette, dvd,cd, ipod,etc,etc,bla,bla.) Poor people have always had to struggle and the rich get richer. I don't care anymore.
