Sometimes see some old crawlers out, and believe it or not, one's owned by an Amish fella. But, I remember when Cat first introduced the tracked Challenger, one was setting next to a monster of an articulated Stieger/Ford at the county fair, and the comparison between the footprint on the ground between 8 tires and those tracks was no comparison. The Challenger clearly had the advantage. More and more manufacturers have since unleashed tracked, Deere, IH Case Stieger. Guess an arguement could be made grabs better, and floats better so doesn't compact as much. One thing's for sure Stan, I can't afford one. LOL. Mark

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
