Well found the problem! the bolt holding the camshaft gear on
came loose and actually knocked a hole in the timing cover and
escaped. The keyway on the end of the camshaft disintergrated
and the key fell out. We found the key!.
Parts for these Deutz Allis tractors seem rarer than rocking
horse sh*t.
