My neighbor was having the same problem with his 666 and PTO job not lasting. A friend of his offerred to look at it for him. The rebuild kit from Case / IH had 9 discs in it. His friend said there was too much slack in the final drive shaft with just the 9 discs so off they went to the dealer. The parts guy finally pulled a picture up and low and behold there should be 12 discs for the rebuild - not just the 9 that were in the kit!!! Hope this helps...
