Went to an auction in Broadway (Va) 2 months ago. Every non-running tractor on the lot went high. There was a Minnie Mo U something, an Allis, a Case, and some others. Some were in really bad shape. All went for $8000 or more. The only running tractor, a Massey, went for over $3000. I asked why the prices were so high (I was frustrated, as I tried to bid on the Minnie and the Allis). It turns out a dealer was there and was just bidding on every tractor until the other bidders dropped out. He didn't care how much he paid, as he was going to part them out and would make the money back. The thing that angered me is that there were many guys like myself there that just want a nice project tractor, but can't afford to pay 600 or 1000 for a non running tractor, and this guy hogged them all just to part them out. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
