Makes me think about the starters for the 5610,6610, and 7610. We used to get these lucus starters rebuilt, but the last time we went to the auto electric place, they gave us a new one that cost $120-$130 (dont remember off the top of my head). When the guy I work with asked them why it about as much as a rebuild they told us they were made in india. Well, less than 1 year and a half later, the stupid starter won't engage but about 1 in 15 times, and when it does, the only stays engaged enough to crank it about 2 times over, maybe 3 on a good day. Quality is going down hill, but what can we do, we just have to pay up and suffer. At our farm, all we use in the way of aftermarket parts is carquest. We have been more than satisfied by the quality for the price. We quit using NAPA probably about 7 years ago. Haven't been disappointed in any carquest parts yet. Hope the water pump holds up, I don't think there is something that has a water pump the is "easy" to change. At least the thermostat isn't inside the pump when it needs to be changed like the jap diesel on our ford CM222 mower, that is a pain to change, have to take the water pump off. Hurst

It is sometimes used so well you can't tell its there and other times used as a sloppy quick fix. Finding where and how it can be used correctly is key to whether you are using it as an "inelegant hack" or an integral solution to difficult and expens
