well finished chopping the last of the sweet corn. chopped averaged 3.2 tons per acre thats it. now mind you we normally average 8.4 tons per acre corn itself. waht are you guys averageing? only picked 1 field 40 acres 2 semi's not even full. i was talking to dad told him things can be worse. i said it will start raining about the 2nd week of september, rain every other day till december in which time we will be able to pick the corn only after the ground freezes and then youll have 35 lb test at 35 percent moisture and then propane will be 2 dollars plus. he said something about taking his dirt nap. i think i should become an auctioneer as all the farm sales that will be coming this year. not sure if anyone will have any money to buy anything though. maybe some corporate guys. went to the parts store jd. and just blowing some smoke the 6620's getting wore out and talking about a new machine without all the options and the gadgets (green star) no heads etc 189,000. at 1.80 bushel per acre corn tahts alot. and talking to guys at work non farmers have no clue. we dont have insurance besides hail (we're wishing for a hail storm best thing that could happen to us) but there talking about well we should have had insurance well we dont and even if we did they still only pay based on the county average. if we had a bad year so did the county so even that aint a savure. i dont know. they say were improving but i dont see how. was alot better in the old days. progress? i dont see it
