It is my understanding that the oil companies (refiners) increased their prices to curb usage...to keep US from making a bad situation worse...no one wants a complete loss of transporation fuels...short or long term. If you look, the crude price has not increased as dramatically after this storm, granted it did go up some, but not to the numbers that would have otherwise pushed prices up above $3.00/Gallon. These prices are a direct result of refiners increasing their price in order to curb consumption. Makes sense to me. CONSERVE...it IS just as easily DONE as it is said. Now burn me at the stake.
