I'd disagree with your analysis. High fuel prices might be a good thing, but that is a bit like arguing that not having manuafacturing or lots of farmers who are farming in this country is a good thing too. My disagreement hinges on three things - 1)oil companies are making record profits, 2) the new federal energy bill proposes to give the oil companies billions of our tax dollars, 3) how do you know that oil supply exceeds demand ? If so, why are prices going up ? Refineries have ample capacity, otherwise there would be shortages rather than just higher prices. Oil is a problem - from pollution to dead American soldiers. Why aren't we making any progress on alternatives ? Greg
