On 6 volt systems, I highly recommend the use of 00 Gauge Battery and Ground and Starter Cables. i.e. any and all high current carrying conductors. I like the braided cables on ground straps provided they are rated equivalent to 00 or larger. They are good for 2 reasons, one the great flexibility (to resist vibration stresses) plus due to the "skin effect" of current flow in conductors, all those smaller conductors are more efficient than lesser number of larger conductors. Since youre only starting with 6 volts, you cant afford to drop much voltage acrosss the cables and loose energy there as heat versus expending it all at the starter where its really needed. I also recommend the use of the absolute highest rated battery that can physically fit into the battery compartment and have ALL battery n starter n ground conenctions clean n tight.
