I'm sympathetic to these poor people but have to ask..... With 20,000 - 30,000 idle hands around why was trash every where? Couldn't these people pass the time by cleaning up a little? Honestly what would/could you do for 48,72,96 hours in the superdome? I'd be bored stiff and have to cleanup just for lack of anything else to do. Help keep my mind off of the problem for a little bit. (Most of) These people didn't lift one constructive finger... Most of the people(not all) left there were too lazy or poor to leave. The reason they were too poor to leave is they are lazy and enjoy the government check coming..... Once things get drained bring the abled bodied people back and put them to work cleaning or constructing. Something like, you work 60 hour s week for 1 year and your house will be rebuilt. The major cost of a house is labor in building it. Take the relief money, bulldoze the town and buy materials to start building things. 100,000 laborers for 1 year at 60 hours week would go a long way to getting things fixed.......
