I had an MF 165 that was doing exactly what you are describing. Tried a number of things to fix it; cleaned sediment bowl, rebuilt carb... It would start and run fine for a couple minutes then act as if it was out of gas. Wait a few minutes, it would run fine again, then shut down...and so forth. Turns out the fuel line after the sediment bowl (or out of the tank, can't remember) was plugged up with crap...so gas was flowing, just very slowly, and so it would burn through the gas it had accumulated in the line and then "run out of gas"... so anyway, we just disconnected the lines and connections and flushed them clean. runs great now...but when it was happening i thought that either a) the tractor hated me or b) I was crazy because whenever someone else would see what the problem was the tractor would run great for them (for the couple minutes they were looking at it)
