Hi Ron, Ye just had to come up with a reason huh? I know where you're coming from though. I had an old 18" combine tire here a few weeks ago. Tire was bad, and all the neighbours could get was tube type tire. The original was tubeless. They were having a fit trying to get a tube for it. I suggested just putting the valve stem back in, and mount it tubeless. When push came to shove, that had to be done, and it's working fine. Don't know how well the slime can seal up the old tires. I guess it's worth a shot. As far as the rims go, I would first mount the tires dry, and then take some soapy water and check each spoke for leaks. Mark the leaky ones, and then dismount and go back with the welder and make them air tight. That part won't be too hard. The tires.... well that's another story, and you know what you're up against. Best of luck. Rod
