Larry........Most of the deere's these days that I am aware of run the AC/Delco compressors. Those compressors from my run in's are very unreliable. The shaft seals leak and the o-ring connections on the back seem to always be seaping. I'm not sure how much you are wanting to spend here and I'm fairly sure that you are wanting to convert to 134-A. I would suggest going to your case dealer (new holland/case now??) and looking into one of the pumps that fit the magnums nowadays. The 71, 72 and 89 series I'm referring to. I havn't been around any of the mx series enough to know whether or not they have kept the same pump or not. The 986 will be an easy enough of a tractor to bolt on a homemade bracket to support the pump unless you already have one provided. I'm not familiar as to whether or not that tractor came out of the factory with a cab or you put one on yourself. I just serviced the one on my 7140 last year and seems to be holding up fine. I'll have to dump a can of refrigerant in soon from loss over the winter but that is an acceptable loss. At any rate they are very reliable and you won't have to worry about o-ring leakeage from them during the summer. Not to mention they cool quite well even with 134-a in them. I hope this helped some and good luck!! Respectivly Dieselman
