While I have not been to the area of the park since the storm I will tell you what I have heard on the radio about that area. Bayou Segnette state park is in Westwego La. That is the west bank of Jefferson Parish. This area was not flooded and power has been restored to most of the area. The west bank of Jefferson parish is the only place in the parish they will let anyone return to there homes at this time. In short.......... Downed trees and some building damage but one of the least hit areas. New Orleans and East bank of Jefferson received only minor damage from wind and rain. It was the levee break and then sea water running in because the area is below sea level that caused all the damage. The very eastern side of La. and western and central Ms. is where the most damage was done because of storm serge. I think they said the storm surge (wall of water) was 25 to 30 ft high.
