Paul, I just did my AC CA that has a 6 volt pos. ground system. I took my 12 battery, from another tractor, set it on the ground next to my CA. I hooked the red wire on the timing light to pos. and black wire to neg. on the battery- then hooked up the remaining wire to the No. 1 spark plug wire. My timing light just clipped on the spark plug wire. Anyway I had a very nice bright flash. I timed it outside in the day time. The CA runs much better now.
