When it will not dissengage do you have a heavy load on it? The nature of that PTO is that you have to have a heavy load on it to stop it, (A sprayer pump does not have enough load) as it will coast at anytime engine is running. If that is the case then you should be able to get by with it. There is a PTO brake that is supposed to stop that but most do not work due to the way that PTO is designed, there is no feather in or out, just snap in or out at full speed and that destroys that brake. If it will not dissengage under heavy load then something is broke in the clutch package inside and is a major size & $$$ repair, now I am guessing @ $thousand+. When I had mine done if I can remember closley, 10? year ago, was around $800. I had 2 4000 and 1 5000 with that PTO clutch. The only time I used the PTO was on a sprayer pump to incorperate with a disc or field cultivator with a spray boom on front of implement and I had to watch and not drain my spray tank of all liquid as the pump would never shut off, after having the PTO rebuilt was still the same as before with the spray pump, that is on the 5000. The 4000 I puled a PTO powered combine with it for a bit and that clutch with that load would snap in or out too quick for too much strain on combine did not do that very long, went back to John Deere B with no live power on that combine
