Chevy truck- GN versus frame hitch

After reading the posts below about goose neck or frame hitch I went back to Chevrolets web site and researched 1/2 ton trucks. They say that the same 1500 extended cab 4x4 with Z-71 package and 5.3 eng is rated at 8600 lb trailer with the frame hitch and only 6900 lb on a goose neck . I would have thought it would be the other way around, that you could pull more with the goose neck. Can anyone explain this to me?
