Jerry - If you don't mind the rattle (not much of one in the new ones anyway), don't mind the smell, and aren't worried with trying to beat someone at a light - go for the diesel. I don't really NEED one (although I'm using it more and more all the time) but I have NEVER been sorry I paid the extra for the diesel. Mine's a Dodge '01. I've not had a lick of trouble out of her and we're heading to 100,000.
