If you do not tow or haul heavy loads then diesel is a complete waste of money. Diesel costs more and the engine is thousands of dollars more to begin with.Off road you pay a price as the diesel weighs at least 500 pounds more. I got 250,000 miles out of my GMC 2500 350 (5.7). Get a good used gas truck or new gas truck. You will never pay back the cost of a new diesel truck. The diesel cost much more to maintain. If you tow or haul heavy loads then go diesel. I would not buy a Toyota, but if you buy a Toyota gas truck and take care of it, it will out last the diesel truck.
