That's one of the most intelligent arguements I have heard! I don't have much patience for those who want to drop the gas taxes due to high prices... If we're paying the high price w/tax...we'll pay it w/o the tax and private industry has bigger profits. Or you drop the price, demand overshoots supply, and you can't buy gas... So while I don't support dropping the taxes, at least your arguement makes a lot more sense than those who think dropping the tax during supply near-shortages would drop the price...
