have the same problem in neighborhood I have a nice 16' flat bed tandem trailer and I plan on keeping it that way .well it's been real dry so we haul a lot of water around here so I pulled out an old fertlizer spreader that we made into a trailer and it's nice and short but when they neighbors have to haul water they always cry bacause I won't let them use the new trailer to pull instead of this piece of crap worn out spreader and since I own the only hitch pin for miles around thwy complain about it being unsafe but they still hook on to it and use it any way what do they expect for free .
