MN BOB, yes, the check valve can cause the hydraulics to take a little while to come "on-line" at startup.

If this is the case, ALL hydraulic functions will not function right away... 3-pt, (if it has one), SCV's and brakes. Steering has priority, when the hydraulics been to pump.
