No Rusty...there were a lot of people there...but they were after the shiny utility stuff. Saw a well used Ford 3000 go for 5500, a Massey 135 went for almost 6000. They even had an old Long 460 with a loader go for 4400. The older tricycle tractors were not bid on at all. A JD G went for junk price. It was not pretty, but only 2 guys bid on it and it went for 900, a really nice IH 400 gas went for 500. It was really nice. I had spent my allotment or I would have brought it back too.
My friend got a 560D for 1300 and an Oliver 550 gas for 750. It is rough but it runs good. A new/better back tire and it will be a good mowing tractor.
One guy came up to me and ask me what an Oliver was. That shows you who was there. Young guys who have a couple of acres that thought they needed a large tractor.
There was an IH 460D I wanted really bad...but the fool thing went for 7500. Way out of my league. They had to show the guy how to drive it. I warned him about the TA on a down hill slope...but I know he paid me little attention.
He just wanted to get it on a truck and go home.
Just one of those odd auctions...guess they do happen.

As a kid he worked part time on a farm in Kansas doing many of the manual chores. Some of the more successful farmers of that day had a new time saving device called a tractor. It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea ... [Read Article]
