I just sold one we bought new in 1973. My biggest concern for one with that many hours would not be a little blue smoke. We had to overhaul ours at 5400 hours because the seals between the cylnder sleeves and the block started to let coolant into the combustion chamber. The tractor was not using any significant amount of oil. The other concern would be the brakes. On these tractors they will continue to work past the point when the disks start breaking down. Once this happens it is an endless process to get the hydraulic system purged. The parts for a brake job on these tractors can easily be $700 to $1000 and that does not count the labor (brakes are internal in the transmission). They are great tractors, but if you get one with that many hours that has had no mechanical refurbishing over the years they become a money pit in a hurry, Once the spending is through you are good to go for another 20 years.
