I've got one Ayrshire cow which I milk (can you believe it) by hand. I milk her once a day and let a holstein calf (his name is "Beef"--he's what's for dinner) milk her the other times. I stantion her at night and milk her in the morning. During the day she runs with the calf, and if I'm not going to want to milk her some morning I leave her out with the calf at night. The first few weeks the calf couldn't empty her, but after that no problem (he's seven months old my now and almost as tall as her, but she still feeds him). Millions of people have drunk raw milk over the centuries. Most of them haven't had a problem, but thousands have--I don't feel like taking a gamble, so I pasturize my milk.
