I suppose the milking machines remove most of the "fun" from milking. However, i think the new guys should linger 30 seconds at the business end of the cow. A couple of tail lashes in the face probably helps build character. Now, I never milked any billy goats like some, I thought they were for poor folks that couldn't feed a cow. Those things eat tin cans, you know. Anyway, a couple of "butts" in the right direction couldn't hurt much either.
