I've had the Delco generator and starter on our MH50 redone a couple times in the last 15 years. Ran about 50 bucks each at an auto-electric shop (not NAPA) each time. You can redo a GM internal regulated alternator into a single wire unit for about $30 plus the cost of the alternator. Summit Racing sells the kit. Maybe some of the vendors on this site have more turn-key kits. Maybe worth a look.
