I just noticed the part about you and your Dad not "getting along", ,don't wait until he is dead to try and get along with him if it's at all possible try and do it before, have had a lot of guy's I work with that didn't get along with thier "dad's" and never made up until it was too late, I am getting older and try to spend as much time as I can with my Dad now because I know there really isin't going to be that much time to be around him and want to spend as much time as I can, people don't live forever now, my Dad is okay but at the age where anything can happen, I can just make up a dumb excuse for us to go and haul a load some place for somethig to do.
