For farm equipment there are no duties, only small registration fee. If this cannot qualify as farm equipment it maybe another matter. You will have to pay GST so if you get a really good deal make sure you have a bill of sale indicating what you paid otherwise Revenue Canada will set the value based on their opinion. All dealers along the border (on both sides) from Vancouver to N.S. will handle these things for you. They do it every day. Transportation is another matter and you need to contact a Canadian carrier that may have an empty truck returning from that area if you are without time constraints. If you buy from a dealer he will know all this. I have purchased numerous items of farm eqp. from Canadian dealers and have never (not once) had a problem. As a Canadian you'll have to deal with the border authorities on that side but if you call them they will lay it all out for you. Good luck whatever you decide.
