every year our province sends a 40 ish foot christmas tree to the city of Bosten in thanks for that city's help after the largest man made explosion,till the Atom Bomb, hit our capital city of Halifax on Dec 6 1917.Almost 2000 people were killed and thousands left blind,homeless and well you get the picture.My granddad helped in the aftermath and he thought the world had come to an end ... "At 7.30 a.m. on December 6, the French ship Mont-Blanc left her anchorage outside the mouth of the harbour to join a convoy gathering in Bedford Basin. She was loaded with 2,300 tons of wet and dry picric acid, 200 tons of TNT, 10 tons of gun cotton and 35 tons of benzol: a highly explosive mixture" Our local news carried the cutting of the tree this past weekend and she's on her way by tractor trailer to Bosten as we speak...THANKS BOSTEN
