Beetle crawler tractor

Hello,
Does anyone have any information regarding the "Beetle" mini-crawlers that were manufactured
by Pacific Western Gear Works in the late 40's?
I have had one for about 20 years and have used
it regularly, but know little about it's history or production. Any help would be appreciated.
