First thing to check is the shifting fork adjustment. Let me guess, it is most likely 3rd gear? If not third, then normally 2nd is the next most common, and if not second, then 4th is the next most common. It could be as simple as adjusting the fork or replacing it, or it may be as complecated as breaking down the whole tranny, replacing the gear, collor, fork. I hope it is the fork at worst. check out this address to a discussion about a D15 that started slipping out of 3rd and second: http://www(dot)allischalmers(dot)com/forum/forum_view(dot)asp?mid=144355&mtop=344355&mtext1=jumping&morder=normal&mnext=-1 and replace the "dots" with periods. It will give you a good idea. You may be able to find used parts if you need collars and/or gears and/or forks. Good luck Hurst

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
