Being primarily a GM man, I'm a bit at a loss. I have an 89' F-150 ext cab pickup with the 5.0 FI engine, 5 speed stick and it's 4 wheel drive. In the past few weeks it has developed a a miss or "stumble" at about 50 mph. It's lacking for the power it previously had and fuel mileage is gradually going south. It was tuned up this past summer with ALL new ignition and the distributor bushings were not worn, also it's been completely serviced including a new air filter. This just started happening in the past few weeks and has had 3 tanks of gas thru it since this has been going on. Any peculiarities to this engine that happen that might cause this? On a GM I could probably track the problem down in short order. I'm just not familiar enough with Fords. I must say, I've had this truck for 2 1/2 years and it has changed a lot of the paradigms I had about Ford trucks.
