Maybe she just wants some hatching eggs. Incubate them with a heat lamp. Wouldn't cost so much to send a few heritage breed eggs, if she's starting a hobby. A grab-bag of day-old chicks costs about $40 for 25. Bantams are a bit higher. If the flu hits, we might lose a lot of breeding stock for the nearly extinct breeds. Maybe those of us who can, should keep a small "Noah's Ark"
