: Does anyone have any ideas on converting an 8n 3pth to a live system? I wondering if it is practical to run a pump off the engine and connect the lines into the present hdy. system. thanks for your opions. nat
I've always wanted to try this. I think it could be done.
Mount a pump on the front of the crankshaft. Pipe it back to the hydraulic cover. Remove the present pump and control mechanism, replace with a simple open-center valve plumbed to the lift ram. One would have to put a restrictor in the line because a 10 gpm pump would lift the hitch way too quick.
Disadvantages - position control only, unless one was prepared to experiment with the reaction link system and connect it to the valve. And you'd still have non-live PTO.
I'd be fascinated to hear how you get on with this.
