Is it that the tire shop can't patch the tire, or that it isn't really worth patching? I was quoted a price of about a hundred bucks just for the blowout patch, plus labor for a flat I had about a year ago. Granted, that was a bigger hole than you describe. So in my case with a tire that had 25% tread left, it really wasn't worth fixing. Yours, at 150 bucks new, is sort of a coin toss, because if the first patch doesn't stick, then you're into the cost of a new tire. That's a very good price you were quoted as well, as I priced several 12.4x24's yesterday that ranged from 275 for a 4 ply bias to 640 for a 1* radial. Those are priced in Canadian dollars.
