In the spring of 1951 Dad bought his first tractor. A used 1940 J D B. He sold four of the 19 horses that spring. I did not get to drive that tractor for four years as I enlisted into the U S Navy that spring. When the tractor was delivered I was working in Kansas City for TWA and a month later was in the navy.
