Those hand held tachs were state of the art at one time. The accuracy may not be up to todays standards, and again it might be. Either way, it will be more than close enough. I have used one on the pto shaft of a tractor when I suspected the governor was not allowing proper RPMs, and I was right. I started playing with the governor, and checking my progress with the tach, and now the tractor runs like I think it should.
