Never tryed it back then and since there is no clear guide lines on tractor pullen engine building ya learn the hard way and make notes as to what does or does not work as far as shaven the pistons down well she will get a bit harder to start and i still think that it is a head bolt issue . Even on the gassers if ya build enough pony power they will not seal all that well . If it was me i think that i would try the O/Ring on the block first before i tryed O/Ringing the head and maybe even getting the head Dowell pinned to the block to keep the head from walking as this also could be part of the problem.
